Bay College To Add Basketball, Cross Country In '17

ESCANABA----Bay College announced on Monday the addition of an athletic program.

Starting in in the fall of 2017, the college will provide intercollegiate competition for students in women’s and men’s sports.  Athletes will compete with other two year colleges primarily in Michigan and Northern Wisconsin, as well as smaller four year colleges and universities, as part of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Initial sports offered at Bay College starting in 2017 will include:
Men’s & Women’s Cross Country    Fall
Men’s Basketball                                   Winter
Women’s Basketball                             Winter

“We are very excited to add athletics to our already strong Academics and Arts programs at Bay College” Bay College President Laura C0leman said. “Athletics complete the educational triangle consisting of academics (mental), arts (creative) and athletics (physical), which has always been my dream.”

Sports on campus will provide all Bay College students added opportunity, as well as help with student recruitment, especially with steadily declining high school enrollments.

Bay College will be developing a team name and mascot.  Bay is asking for your input on team names as well as mascot ideas during the month of April.

Please share them at http://baycollege.libsurveys.com/Athletics .

Bay College is publically planning on introducing the team name and mascot in August.
