Wildcat Football Team Loses At Saginaw Valley St.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.---The Northern Michigan University football team was downed by Saginaw Valley State, 41-13, Saturday night at Wickes Stadium near Saginaw.
The Cardinals scored 31-unanswered points, including three-straight touchdown rushes of 50 or more yards, to top the Wildcats.
Northern Michigan took its first lead of the game at 13:58 of the second quarter when Shaye Brown found Mitch Heaton for a two-yard touchdown catch. That score was set up by a 52-yard reception by Paris Woods.
After that, Saginaw Valley State took control of the game, opening a 34-7 advantage by 5:33 of the fourth quarter. Jake Mayon capped the Wildcats' scoring with his sixth rushing touchdown of the year, a four-yard score, at 2:27.
Aaron Harris ran for 115 yards on 15 carries. Terrell Johnson(11), Darryl Williams (11) and Jake Abramowicz (10) reached the double digits in tackles. Abramowicz and Austin McCarthy also recovered fumbles.
The Wildcats. now 3-3 (3-2 GLIAC), travel to Ferris State for a 1 p.m. game Oct. 15.
