Michigan Tech Football Stuns #9 Ashland U., 24-21

HOUGHTON---The Michigan Tech University football team pulled off a 24-21 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference upset victory over Ashland University Saturday afternoon at Sherman Field.

The Huskies posted the game winning touchdown with 36 seconds left in the fourth quarter when senior quarterback Brandon Cowie found senior wide receiver David Walter in the end zone for an eight-yard touchdown pass.

Freshman defensive back Travis Tidwell had two big interceptions and freshman linebacker Marvin Wright picked off a pass in the end zone to spark the defense.

Ashland, ranked 9th in the nation in NCAA-II, fell to 7-2 on the season. Tech improved to  3-5. The Huskies face Northern Michigan next Saturday in Marquette.
