GIVING BACK: State Champ Helps Youth Wrestlers
 GWINN---Tanner Gonzalez won the first state wrestling championship in Manistique Emeralds history earlier this spring. And this past weekend, Gonzalez was back on the mat. This time, he was in Gwinn, helping the young kids by officiating at a youth wrestling tournament. The tournament ran all day long and featured raffles and a 50/50. "I love wrestling and watching wrestling grow in the U.P.," Gonzalez said. "I used to be one of them little kids running around, and it just brings back good memories to my youth. And you can get a good laugh sometimes!" Gonzalez plans to wrestle at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa next winter. Thanks to Anne Truitt for the photos.  |
