Norse Women Break Century Mark In Chicago Win

CHICAGO---The Bay College Norse women’s basketball team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with an easy 108-49 win over an understaffed Truman College team in Chicago.

All twelve Norse players scored as Bay ended the regular season with a 17-10 record.

The Hawks, who had only five players on the active roster (and they played the entire game), fell to 2-12.

Bay's win wrapped up a two-game road trip that included Friday night's 68-36 win over Daley College. CLICK HERE  to read about Friday's game.

The Norse rolled to a 34-9 lead after the first quarter as eight different players scored. Haley Trudell added to her Bay College career three-point school record with three triples in the quarter before she rolled her ankle and missed the rest of the game.

Madison Olsen and Brooke Dalgord both dominated inside, scoring three baskets apiece in that quarter, and Lauryn Bloniarz came off the bench to score twice in the paint.

The Norse led at halftime, 63-20, as Olsen and Dalgord both scored three more baskets and nine total players scored points in the second ten minutes.

Bay Coach Matt Gregory praised the Hawks players for their effort, and he used a couple of time outs, in part, to help the Hawks players to catch their breath.

The Norse crossed the 100-point mark for the third time this season when Trish McGuire knocked down a triple midway through the fourth quarter.

Bay College had five players score in double figures, as Olsen and Dalgord both finished with 16 points. McGuire finished with eleven points, while Kaitlyn Hardwick and Holly Wardynski both scored ten points.

Bloniarz had a strong game off the bench with nine points and nine rebounds, and Brooke Mannor pulled down eight rebounds.

JuliAnn Wickman had eight points and dished out five assists.

Truman College was led by Krisha Haywood with 17 points, and Jazzmine Rivera added 13 points. Danielli Mays chipped in ten points and eleven rebounds.

Bay College forced 30 turnovers on defense and had 32 assists on offense. The Norse shot 56-percent from the floor, making 47 of 84 shot attempts.

The Norse are off until they open the NJCAA Region 13 playoffs against Gogebic Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Game time is 6:00 ET and it will be broadcast on Maverick 106.3 FM and on-line at www.radioresultsnetwork.com.
