TITUSVILLE, FL –
The Bay Softball Team (6-5) got their record above .500 with a pair of wins over St. Clair County Community College (1-5) by final scores of 10-7 and 12-3.

Bay got off to a fast start in game one.  After Lexi Chaillier (FR, Escanaba, MI) belted a homerun to lead off the first inning, Richelle Vandeville (SO, Rapid River, MI) followed it up with a one out, two-run shot that gave the Norse a three-run lead in the first.  Bay put more pressure on the Skippers in the second, loading the bases with one out.

A wild pitch plated one run, and Madison Griffin (SO, Escanaba, MI) cleared the bases with a double to left.  Griffin later scored on an error.  Chaillier picked up another RBI in the third on a fly ball single to center.  Kaitlyn Hardwick (SO, Gladstone, MI) smacked a double to bring in Chaillier, and the Norse held a 9-0 lead.

The Skippers finally answered back in the fourth.  After a pair of hits, they got a clutch two out double to get on the board.  A bases loaded walk drove in a second run, and another double brought in two more, making the score 9-4.  A two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, pulled the Skippers to within three.

Bay got a run in the top of the sixth when Kaitlyn Hardwick led off the inning with a single.  After tagging from second and sliding in safely at third, she would score on an error.  St. Clair County put together a threat in the seventh.

A pair of leadoff singles got things going.  Bay pitcher Eden Oswald (FR, Bark River, MI) then struck out the next batter, allowed a run on a sacrifice fly, but got the third out on a fly ball to right to end the game.

Hardwick, Oswald, and Griffin each collected three hits.  Oswald got the win on the mound, pitching a complete game giving up seven runs, five of them earned.  She struck out three and walked two in the game.  Olivia Young got chased after one inning of work and took the loss for the Skippers.

The Skippers got control of the game early in the nightcap.  They scored on an error in the first, a passed ball, and another error in the third.  The Norse answered back in the bottom half of the third, and it was Chaillier striking again.

She blasted her seventh homerun of the season, a two-run shot.  Taylor Hunter (SO, Gladstone, MI) picked up two RBI in the fourth and Hardwick hit a two-run homer to center, and the Norse grabbed a 6-3 lead.

The first seven hitters in the fifth inning reached base for the Norse, including a leadoff homerun from Brittany Schwartz (FR, Rapid River, MI).  Bay scored six in the inning to end the game and sweep the doubleheader.

Chaillier and Hardwick each collected three hits in the game.  Schwartz earned the win in the circle, giving up 7 hits, three runs, only one earned, and one walk.  She struck out two.

The Norse return to action on Thursday afternoon with a doubleheader against Spoon River.  Those games start at 2 pm.
