Health Officials: COVID Spread At Hockey Tourney
CALUMET---The Marquette County Health Department and the western U.P. health department say a youth hockey tournament held last weekend in Calumet was a COVID-19 super spreader event.
The tournament was held February 27th and 28th at the Calumet Colosseum, and Katie Beer with the Western U.P. Health Department says that "multiple" players and spectators have since tested positive for the virus. She did not say how many people tested positive, or how many, if any, were sick or hospitalized.
Health officials are working with the junior hockey teams that were at the tournament to identify any more cases. They are recommending quarantine through March 11th for players, coaches, and family members who were there. They also suggest people get tested for COVD-19.
