Dakota Maki sniped a top-shelf goal for the Emeralds in the first period to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Brayden Martineau gave the Eskymos a 3-1 lead with just under six minutes to play in the second period, and then Escanaba put it away with three goals in a span of 3:33 early in the third period. Sawyer LaMarch scored the first one as he skated up the left wing and ripped a shot off the goal post and past Manistique goalie Alex Noble. Just over a minute later, Jayger LaMarch tipped one past Noble off the feed from his brother. And two minutes after that, Trevor Streichert scored from in close to make it 6-1. Escanaba goaltender Dylan Ziemke was not overworked, but he did stop a breakway in the third period and ended up with nine saves. The Eskymos outshot the Emeralds, 37-10, with Noble stopping 31 shots. Escanaba, which also beat Kingsford on Thursday, 5-2, improved to 9-5-0-1 on the season. Manistique fell to 4-2-1-0 on the season. |
