ESCANABA---The Bay College Norse women's basketball team rolled to a dominating home court win over the Western Technical College (Wis.) Cavaliers, 75-23, at the Bay College Gym.

Ashlee Burchette scored a career high 36 points, making eight triples along the way. All together, Bay made 13 three-pointers, with Kennedy Sproule knocking down three of them, with Siena Lingle and Leah Allan both sinking one triple.

The win broke a three-game losing streak for the Norse, elevating their record to 5-7 on the season.

“I think we got a little better,” Bay Coach Todd Ciochetto said. “It's tough to play that kind of a game, when we were just so much better. The good thing is we only had two turnovers in that second half. We had eleven in the first half. We've just got to get better on some of those individual little things right there to make our team better.”

Burchette hoisted 30 shots, 19 of them from downtown. She made 14 field goals altogether, including those eight triples. Burchette also had six steals on defense, and had a couple of assists.

“It feels good, especially because we blew this team out,” Burchette said. “I feel like the passing was good, everybody was finishing. I feel like I did good, I feel good about myself, especially because we got the win as well. We just had to stay focused and just push each other. If we have a bad pass or make a bad shot, just keep on going, no matter what.”

The Norse did just that Friday night, racing to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter, and holding the Cavaliers to one point in the entire second quarter.

It was a 34-9 Bay lead at halftime, and late in the third quarter, the Norse led, 48-13. At that point, the Cavaliers had made just one basket from the floor in some 26 minutes of basketball, although they did make eleven free throws.

Besides Burchette's 36 points, Lingle had 13 points, five rebounds, and five steals on defense. Sproule had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Jada Freudinger led the way with eleven rebounds altogether. The Norse outrebounded Western Tech, 48-32, and forced 33 Cavalier turnovers.

Western Tech (1-9) had six points and eleven rebounds from Emma Hunt. Rylie Radloff led the Cavaliers with eight points, and she made all four of her free throws as Western Tech went 11-of-18 from the charity stripe. Bay College was a perfect 6-for-6 at the line.

Bay College (5-7) will face fellow U.P. Team Gogebic Community College on Saturday.

Gogebic rolled past Kirtland Community College on Friday, 65-51. The Samsons will enter Saturday's game with a 1-5 record. Bay beat Gogebic, 58-48, earlier this season in Ironwood.
