1,000 POINT CLUB: Nolan Reaches Huge Milestone
MUNISING---Munising High School junior Trevor Nolan scored a school record 44 points and crossed the 1,000 point mark for his Mustangs career after an 84-46 win over the Rapid River Rockets Tuesday night in Munising. Nolan, a key member of the Mustangs' state championship lasyt year as a sophomore, scored his clinching points on a 30-foot bomb from in front of the Munising bench with just udner five minutes left in the game. He was mobbed by his teammates as the game was briefly stopped to recognizxe his achievement. Nolan nailed nine three-point baskets in the win, and it was Munising's last home game of the season. Had he not scored that many points Tuesday night, Nolan would have had to get his milestone on the road, either at Brimley on Thursday, or at North Central next week. "I want to thank all my teammates, coaches, role models, and everybody who has helped me to get to that goal," Nolan said. "I want to thank God. None of this would be possible without Him. All Glory to God!" Besides Nolan's milestone, the win kept the Mustangs on top of the U.P. poll, especially after second-ranked Forest Park lost at No. 5 Norway. Munising is now 16-4 on the season, heading into that make-up game in Brinley, and the next Battle Royale in Powers. |
