Eskymos Honor Top Athletes In Awards Ceremony
ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School athletic department celebrated this year's successes of the boys and girls at a ceremony Wednesday night at the school. Numerous awards and scholarships were given to the kids as they get ready to graduate from high school. Check out the pictures in the ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS box to see some of the award winners. Thanks to Lisa Dagenais for these photos. Jalyn Dagenais and David Falish were the recipients of the Gary Abrahamson award, which is given to one boy and one girl who had the most varsity letters during their high school careers. Dagenais had eleven letters (four for golf, three for tennis, four for being a manager for the hockey team). Falish had nine letters (four in baseball, three in football, and one each in basketball and wrestling). Falish and Codi Jenshak both received the Pfotenhauer-Gessner award, for being the "top" athletes in the school. Andrew Stenberg and Braedyn Bosilovatz received the "Stack Smth/Cathryn Smith" academic award for doing well in sports and in the classroom. Jenshak and Falish recived the U.S. Army Reserve Scholar Athlete Award (pictured above), and Falish, Jenshak, and David Fix won the Michigan High School Athletic Association's Scholar Athlete Award. Numerous other athletic awards, and scholarships, were handed out. Congratulations to all of the kids for their work in both athletics and academics during this school year. |
