Gladstone, Rapid River Have Rough Day at 'Rock'

GLADSTONE----While the Escanaba Eskymos made it to the semifinals of Saturday's "Rock Invitational", Delta County's two other teams had a rough day on the court.

The host Gladstone Braves started the day with a rivalry match-up against Escanaba, and the Eskymos won both games, 26-24 and 25-15.

The Braves then faced Hancock, and lost both to the Bulldogs, 25-22 and 25-21. In the third match, Gladstone tied Gwinn, 22-25 and 25-18. Gladstone wrapped up pool play by losing to Westwood.

Things didn't go much better for the Rapid River Rockets. The Rockets lost by 2-0 scores three times: to Marquette (16-25, 22-25), Ishpeming (11-25, 21-25), and Houghton (11-25, 8-25).

We do not have scores for the Rockets-Norway match. The matches began with each team getting four points (in an effort to keep pool play matches on schedule). So, to see how many points the teams actually scored, subtract four.
