ISHPEMING----The magazine Sports Illustrated is running a series titled "Underdogs: Inspiring Stories in High School Football".
And this week's episode, dated September 18th, highlights Ishpeming Hematite Senior Eric Dompierre. Dompierre has Down Syndrome, and he and his father fought a long battle to be allowed to play sports in his senior year.
This video profiles Dompierre, and the Michigan High School Athletic Association's eventual decision to allow for waivers of the "maximum age rule" in certain situations.
