NCA Outlasts Rockets In Marathon Volleyball Match

RAPID RIVER---The North Central Jets and Rapid River Rockets hooked up in a marathon match Wednesday night as the high school volleyball regular season came to an end. The Jets pulled out the 3-2 victory by winning the fifth and final set, 15-9.

North Central showed up in pink uniforms to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

And behind the strong hitting and tough play at the net by Paige Whitens, the Jets won the first set, 25-19. Rapid River turned the tables, however, by winning the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-18.

But NCA won a tight fourth set, 25-23, to force the deciding fifth set.

Rapid River hosts Big Bay deNoc in the first round of the Class D district tournament next Tuesday night at 7:30. The first match that night is Superior Central vs Munising.

North Central hosts Carney-Nadeau in the other districts' first match Monday night.
