ESCANABA---The St. Ignace Saints raced to a 16-0 lead and rolled to a 66-30 victory over the Ishpeming Hematites in the Class C regional semifinal Tuesday in Escanaba.
St. Ignace had three players score in double figures as they earned a spot in Thursday's regional championship game against L'Anse.
Kelly Wright led the Saints with 16 points, while Emily Hinsman added 14 points and Sarah Smith chipped in with ten points.
After taking that 16-0 lead, the Saints led at the end of the first quarter, 20-6, and they led at halftime, 33-19. The Saints put the game away by outscoring Ishpeming, 20-6, in the third quarter, making it a 53-25 game entering the fourth quarter.
Saint Ignace (21-2) outscored Ishpeming, 13-5, in the fourth quarter, to make it a 66-30 final score.
Jessica Spencer led Ishpeming (15-8) with 16 points.
