RAPID RIVER---The Rapid River Rockets went on a big run late in the third quarter to pull away from the Stephenson Eagles, 62-50, Monday night in Rapid River.
A three-pointer for Stephenson's Matt Foley brought the Eagles to within 40-35, but the Rockets scored the final seven points of the third quarter to lead by a dozen. Craig Martin's three-pointer was followed by a John Stropich steal and basket to end the quarter.
Rapid River then scored the first two baskets of the fourth quarter and cruised to the win from there. Before that seven-point run, the game was close throughout, as the Rockets led, 19-13, after the first quarter, and 30-23 at halftime.
Mason Berglund had 14 points and Logan Hardwick added ten as the Rockets boasted a balanced scoring attack. Martin had nine points and George Kanyuh added eight.
Stephenson got 18 points from Ryan Raboin and 14 from Nate Rasner.
