BARK RIVER---The Bark River-Harris Broncos raced to a 24-0 lead Friday night, and held off the Iron Mountain Mountaineers, 41-20, to send the Broncos into the regional final next week below the Bridge. Gionni McDonough scored on two long touchdown runs, including a 91-yarder, and the Bronco defense intercepted three passes in the first half.
Andy Johnson added two touchdown runs, Ethan Oswald scored on a 20-yard run, and Dane Schmitt kicked a 34-yard field goal in the victory. The Broncos also intercepted three passes on defense, all of them in the first half, by Brayden Derouin, Ben Knauf, and Oswald..
Brayden Kassin threw two touchdown passes to Charles Anderson in a losing effort for the Mountaineers, and Kasssin ran in another score in a losing effort.
The Broncos travel downstate to face Maple City Glen Lake in the state's final eight. The game is scheduled for next Friday night.
