ESCANABA---The Bay College Norse women's basketball team finished the non-conference portion of its schedule Wednesday night, beating the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats from suburban Milwaukee, 75-48. The Norse had four players score in double figures as the team enters conference play with an 11-3 record.

The Norse took control of the game from the opening tip, and were never headed. The game was very physical, and the Bobcats were increasingly frustrated with the officiating. The BSC team was assessed three technical fouls, including two for the assistant coach, who was ejected from the game. They were whisted for 23 personal foulsand Bay was whistled 26 times.
In the first quarter, Makenna Hendrickson knocked down a couple of triples, and six different players scored in the first quarter as Bay took a 21-10 lead after the first ten minutes. In the second quarter, Nina Bower came off the bench to score ten points, including two three's, and the Norse led at halftime, 37-23.
In the third quarter, the Norse scored 24 points, inclkuding 10-for-10 at the free throw line.
There were 61 free throws shot in the game. The Norse were 22-of-26 from the line throughout the game; BSC was 23-of-35.
Hendrickson led the Norse with 19 points, and Bower added 18 points. Jillian Fraser contributed 11 points and Lauren Zawada added ten points.
The Boibcats (5-9 overall) were led by Amelia Szczepanski, who had 17 points and 19 rebounds for a double-double.
The Norse open conference play Saturday afternoon against the Montcalm Community College Centurions. Game time is 1:00 at the Bay College Gym. The game will be broadcast live on Maverick 106.3 FM, and on-line by clicking the audio link on the www.baynorse.com website.
