GLADSTONE---The Kingsford High School football team improved to 3-0 on the season Friday night after rolling to a 35-0 win over the Gladstone Braves in Gladstone. Flivvers quarterback Blake Tomasoski scored four touchdowns, two of them on long runs, and Jake Lockhart added another touchdown run.
Tomasoski ended up with just shy of 200 rushing yards after posting touchdown runs of 21, 87, 70, and 5 yards, as the Flivvers went into the mercy rule running clock in the thirdf quarter.
Lockhart's touchdown run went 20 yards in the first quarter, and he eventually left the game because of an apparent hamstring injury.
Gladstone struggled to move the football, with the Flivvers pestering quarterback Landon Pepin and swarming leading rusher W7yatt Forvilly. Forvilly had, unoffically, 78 yards on 18 carries.
The best play of the night for the Braves came in the second quarter when 6-foot-2 inch, 220-pounder Ben Wilson went back to punt of 4th and 5, and he rumbled for eleven yards in front of the Gladstone bench. The next play, a Pepin pass deflected off of two Flivvers defenders' hands and was caught by Ryder Amis for a 19-yard gain and a first down.
But the Braves could not take advantage. Also, Gladstone got the ball inside the Kingsford 10-yard line when, on the only Flivver punt attempt of the night, the snap was not good and went 30 yards past the line of scrimmage. The punyer, Trinton Paynter, sprinted baxk, grabbed the ball, and tried to get off a punt, which the Braves blocked.
Again, however, Gladstone could not get a first down and turned the ball over on downs. The Braves also turned it over on a pair of interceptions, collected by Dom Frecrickson and Logan Grondin.
