The Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association had its Hall of Fame banquet Friday night in East Lansing. The longtime coach of Maple City Glen Lake, Gary Galla (pictured), was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Sault Ste. Alex Nordstrom scored four goals Thursday night to lead the Hancock Bulldogs to an 8-2 win over the Escanaba Eskymos at the Houghton County Arena.
Freshman Brayden Stannard scored both of Escanaba's goals, on the power play. His goal in the second period briefly tied the game at 1-1. Sophomore goaltender Trevor Denome made 26 saves for the Eskymos. Hancock is now 14-3 on the season. Escanaba is 4-10.
The two teams play again Saturday at 1:00 in Wells.
