The Upper Peninsula's best girls tennis players were announced on Tuesday as the Coaches Association named its All-U.P. and All-State teams. Negaunee's Angela Ring and Kingsford's Katy Hicks were named U.P. Players of the Year, and All-Staters, in singles.

The Menominee High School girls volleyball won two tight games to break a 1-1 tie and beat the Gladstone Braves, 3-1, Monday night in Menominee. It was the Maroons' second win over the Braves this season. The scores were 25-12, 24-26, 26-24, 25-22.
