Braves Start Strong, Finish Flat In Loss To Flivvers
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School volleyball team got off to a good start in Thursday night's match against the Kingsford Flivvers. But the Braves couldn't hold on to a lead late in the first game and ended up losing all three games (22-25, 11-25, 11-25). Gladstone led, 18-15, in the first game, before the Flivvers scored six straight points on the serve of Maria Wiltzius. The Braves had a key service error when the game was tied at 21, and the Flivvers managed to pull out the close win. The next two games were not close. Gladstone was led by Lexi Hongisto's 11 kills and eight digs. Zoie Berg and Maddie Bailey each had seven digs in the match. "We started off well, but made a few mental errors," Gladstone Coach Liz Gendron said. "I really thought we were going forward, but then we hit a wall. I need to somehow find a way to get these young, talented girls, to push themselves." Other U.P.
