Eskymo JV's Beat Country Day To Stay Undefeated
ESCANABA---Cody Vandermissen scored three touchdowns and Scout Wunder ran in two scores as the Escanaba junior varsity football team beat the Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets, 41-6, Saturday afternoon on Homecoming. Wunder scored the game's first two touchdowns to give the Eskymos a quick 14-0 lead, as Addam Claes made both extra point kicks. Vandermissen scored touchdowns from five, four, and 34 yards out. Hayden Haslow scored his touchdown from nine yards out. Country Day's Ryan Mayhew...whose father is the general manager of the Detroit Lions...scored the only Yellowjacket touchdown on a long run in the second quarter. The Eskymos argued that an official blew his whistle during that play, causing the Escanaba players to stop. But the touchdown was allowed to stand. With the win, Escanaba improved to 5-0 on the season. Country Day's JV's fell to 4-1.
