Braves Hold Off Manistique On Senior Night, 65-53
GLADSTONE---Reece Castor scored 24 points and Joe Gibbs added 16 as the Gladstone Braves beat the Manistique Emeralds, 65-53, Tuesday night in Gladstone. The Braves honored their two seniors, Kyle Pouliot and Phil Griffith before the contest. Manistique got off to a hot start, building a seven-point lead in the first quarter. The Emeralds still led, 16-15, at halftime, but the Braves took a 30-27 lead at halftime. Darien Nichols scored 14 points for Manistique, ten of those coming in the first half. In the junior varsity game, Gladstone cruised to a 74-28 victory. Andy Pouliot scored twelve points on four three-point baskets for the JV Braves. Sean Holm also scored 12 points. Kanton Lauzon led the JV Emeralds with eight points. The Gladstone varsity Braves finish the regular season with a winning record at 11-9. The Braves travel to Escanaba to open the Class B District Tournament next Monday. Game time is 7:00 and it will be broadcast on WCHT-AM (600), and on www.rrnsports.com.
