ESCANABA---
The Escanaba High School boys basketball team raced to a 29-3 lead and rolled past the Negaunee Miners, 57-31, in the MHSAA Division Three district semifinals Monday night in Escanaba. Senior Colin Hudson led the Eskymos in scoring with 23 points.

"Our intensity, definitely, coming out," Hudson said of the fast start. "And then, we just shared the ball. Found the open man, basically. And we just pushed it. Come out, bring the heat. Had to turn it up right away and we came out with the win."

Hudson wrapped up his performance with a pair of slam dunks in the second half, exciting the large crowd that included EHS students dressed in tripical beach attire.

Connor Smale added ten points, while Casey Bray chipped in nine and Nathan Howes contirbuted seven. Negaunee ended a successful season with a 14-7 record. The Miners got nine points from Ty Jacobson in a losing effort.

Escanaba (17-4) hosts Kingsford in the district championship game Wednesday night. The Flivvers (15-6) easily won their semifinal Monday over Houghton, 79-29.

"It's gonna be a battle," Hudson said. "Every GNC game is a battle."

Escanaba beat Kingsford in two close games in the regsular season, 53-50 and 62-55.

Tip-off Wednesday night is at 6:00 ET/5:00 CT, in Escanaba.
