Escanaba School Superintendent Michele LeMire announced Tuesday that student-athletes will not have to pay an activity fee this fall after all. The Kingsford Blues American Legion Baseball team turned back the Marquette Blues, 3-1, Friday night, to win the championship of the new Mid Peninsula Conference. Left-hander John Edwardsen pitched all seven innings for Kingsford, scattering nine hits along the way. Both teams compete in the U.P. Zone Finals next week in Escanaba.
