When you can hold a college team in the 20's, that's pretty darn good. It was a goodgame all-around. We were able to get some of our kids in to play and to gain some confidence.” Anna Axtell, who was named the MCCAA North Player of the Week on Tuesday, kept lighting it up in this one. She scored 30 more points (on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor). Axtell did not play in the entire fourth quarter, in fact, those 30 points came in just 23 minutes of floor time. “Anna can do it inside and out,” Fassett said. “When she's struggling outside, she goes inside to score. Today, she was really comfortable on the perimeter. We were having good ball movement offensively, and it seemed like when we made that one more pass to Anna, she didn't miss many.” Lauren Zawada had a monster game, with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Ten of those rebounds came on the offensive end. Kirtland (3-10 overall, 2-4 MCCAA) got six points each from Kayla McCoy and Adrianna Gilmore. Bay College (12-8 overall, 5-1 MCCAA) has its biggest challenge of the season this Saturday on a road trip to Mt. Pleasant this weekend to face the Mid Michigan College Lakers. “They all shoot, they keep the floor spread, they like to dribble-drive and kick, and they like to make that extra pass,” Fassett said. “Defensively, the rotations that we've been working on, and the rotations that we've been good at, have to be even better.” Tip-off is set for 1:00 Saturday at the Maury Courts.
