WIRE TO WIRE: Bay Men Roll To Win In Petoskey
![]() PETOSKEY---The Bay College Norse men's basketball team bounced back from Saturday's loss to Mid-Michigan by whipping the North Central Michigan Timberwolves, 84-50, Wednesday night in Petoskey.
The Norse scored the first ten points of the game to take control, capped off by a slam dunk by Joe Ofori. The Norse eventually raced to a 23-4 lead midway through the first half, and the lead grew to 45-12 at halftime, one of the best halves of defensive basketball in several years.
The second half saw the Norse substitute freely, with the two teams basically trading baskets throughout the second 20 minutes.
The Norse had four players score in double figures, led by Joe Ofori's 18 points on nine of 12 shooting from the floor. He scored 14 of those points in the first half. Nic Williams added 13 points, while Mykel Lindsey and Ryan Sweeney both scoring eleven points.
Twelve of the 13 Norse players who suited up scored in the victory. The 22nd-ranked Norse improved to 17-5 overall, 6-2 in MCCAA play. Bay kept pace in the conference standings, two games behind first place Mid Michigan and a half-game ahead of third place Muskegon. Those teams both also won Wednesday night.
NCMC fell to 0-22 on the season, 0-8 in conference play. The Timberwolves were led by Jalen Williams, who scored 21 points.
Bay College will be at home on Saturday against Montcalm Community College. The Norse will be looking for revenge after suffering a shocking loss downstate in the conference season opener. Saturday's game starts at 3:00 and it will be broadcast live on Maverick 106.3-FM. |
