Esky Boys, Gladstone Girls Win Golf Invitational

ESCANABA----The Escanaba High School boys golf team eeked out a victory at its own tournament on Thursday, while the Gladstone girls easily won the girls title.

In the boys meet, Escanaba won the Northern Michigan Bank Invitational with 332 strokes on a sunny, breazy afternoon. Gladstone was one stroke behind in second place.

Marquette was third with a 338, while Menominee (351) was fourth and Negaunee (370) took fifth place. Marquette's Alex Palmer was the medalist with a 77. Escanaba's Kevin Gendron was the runner-up with a 79. Negaunee's David Renaldi was third with an 81, and Gladstone's Dave Dykowski and Jake Peterson tied for fourth with 82's.

In the girls meet, Gladstone won with 371 strokes. Marquette was second with 403, and Escanaba was third (430). Menominee (449) took fourth place, and Negaunee (473) was fifth. The medalist was Marquette's Avery Rochester with an 83.

Gladstone's Callie Jensen shot an 84 and finished second. Braves teammate Kaylea Quinn was third with an 89, and Escanaba's Kelsey Motto finished fourth with a 90.
