ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School tennis team is playing some of its best ball of the season right now...and with the schedule the team faces over the next two weeks, it comes as a good time. The Eskymos on Monday topped the Iron Mountain Mountaineers, 7-1.
"We continued our improvement today and played pretty good tennis," Escanaba Coach Jim Hansen said. "Iron Mountain is a good team and competes for their conference and a U.P. title every year."
Escanaba won all four doubles matches played at the high school courts, and took three of the four singles matches in Ludington Park.
The schedule gets even tougher as the Eskymos host Marquette on Tuesday, and then Great Northern Conference and U.P. Tennis Finals tournaments are right around the corner.

T.J. Myrick won at #4 singles.

"We're making strides as a team right now with our technique and our strategy," Hansen said. "Our coaches, (Ogren, Bonzcyk, Mitchell) are doing a great job with the kids. The toughest part of the season is coming up and we need to continue to get better."
