BR-H Rallies In 2nd Half To Keep Rockets Winless

The Rapid River Rockets had a big second quarter Thursday night and had plans to win their first game of the season at Bark River-Harris. But the Broncos stepped up in the second half to post a 51-43 victory to keep the Rockets winless.

John Norman scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds to lead the Broncos to the win. Tom Conine chipped in 13 points as BR-H improved to 3-6 on the season.

BR-H was in control early, leading 16-9 after the first quarter of play. But the Rockets dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Broncos, 14-2, to take a 23-18 lead.

Jake Pearson and Hayden Hardwick led the way for the Rockets, and Eli Orth had a basket and foul late in the quarter to give Rapid River the five-point lead. It was 23-21 at half.

But the Broncos were able to pull it out in the second half, dropping Rapid River to 0-8 on the season. Hardwick scored 18 points and Pearson added 16 for the Rockets.

Bark River-Harris travels to Republic-Michigamme Saturday afternoon, while Rapid River travels to Republic-Michigamme on Monday evening.
