HANNAHVILLE----Scoring was at a premium Monday as the Big Bay deNoc Black Bears and Hannahville Soaring Eagles met in a non-conference game that was postponed by snowy weather earlier this season. Big Bay built a ten-point halftime lead and then held off a late Hannahville challenge to post a 33-25 non-conference victory.
The Black Bears led, 10-4, after the first quarter, and had an 18-8 lead at the halftime break. The Soaring Eagles closed to within five points in the fourth quarter, but two turnovers led to Big Bay baskets down the stretch, ending the Hannahville comeback.
Sami Sundling had 15 points for Big Bay, while Chelsea Thompson added seven points.
Kaitlyn Sagataw and Alicia O'Brien both had seven points to lead Hannahville.
Big Bay improved to 2-9 on the season while Hannahville's record dropped to 3-5.
