Branstrom, Schetter, Mercier Get All-U.P. Honors

ESCANABA---The Upper Peninsula's Class D boys basketball teams were in the spotlight as the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association picked its All-U.P. boys basketball teams. Three of the five boys on the U.P. "Dream Team" came from the Upper Peninsula's smallest schools.

Mid Peninsula senior Brett Branstrom was not only on the Dream Team, but he was also chosen as the Upper Peninsula Class D Player of the Year. Carney-Nadeau senior Wade Schetter, and Ewen-Trout Creek senior Dillon Gordon were also Dream-Teamers.

Rounding out the Dream Team were Negaunee junior Tyler Jandron, and Marquette senior Mark Pap. Jandron was also selected the U.P. Class ABC Player of the Year.

The Marquette Redmen were picked as the Class A-B Team of the Year, and the Negaunee Miners were the Class C Team of the Year.

The North Central Jets, who surprised many basketball pundits by advancing to the Class D Final Four, were picked as the U.P. Class D Team of the Year. NCA Coach Adam Mercier was Coach of the Year. Negaunee's Mike O'Donnell was the ABC Coach of the Year.
