Gauthier Golfs In Marinette; Home Invite Thursday

MARINETTE, Wis.---The Escanaba High School golf team finished fourth out of eight teams Tuesday at the Marinette Ryder Cup Invitational in Wisconsin. Eskymo freshman Dylan Gauthier was in action in an Eskymo uniform for the first time since his hockey injury during February.

He shot a 75, with teammate Dane Casperson, for Esky's top score. Gauthier finished seventh out of 36 golfers at the invitational.

Nick Aird and Derek Chaillier shot an 81, and Nick Laviolette and Storm Founier shot an 89. The team's three-score total was 245 which placed eigthth of 12 schools. DePere won the event with a 223 total.

The Eskymos will be home on Thursday for its biggest event of the year: the Northern Michigan Bank Championships at the Escanaba Country Club. There will be nine teams in the field. Activity starts at 11:00 Thursday morning.
