LANSING---The Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association is out with its All-State teams for the 2013 season. And Delta County's three teams were well-represented.
In Division Two, Escanaba senior Codi Jenshak (pictured above) was named to the Division Two All-State First team as the state's top second baseman.
Eskymo teammates Emily Bogaudo (catcher) and Jayme Frappier (pitcher) were honorable mention picks. There is no "second team" selected in softball.
The Eskymos went 19-8 this season, with district and regional championships for a second straight season. Escanaba lost to Saginaw Swan Valley in the quarterfinals.
In Division Three, Gladstone senior pitcher Alison Austin was picked to the D-3 All-State First Team. Braves first baseman Jessica Beaudry was also a first-team selection.
And Gladstone outfielder Grace Zimmermann was an honorable mention pick.
Gladstone went 28-2 this season, with district and regional championships for an eleventh straight season. Gladstone lost to Unionville-Sebewaing in the quarterfinals.
In Division Four, Rapid River senior pitcher Neena Brockway was amongst three Rockets to make the D-4 All-State First Team. Second baseman Averi Kanyuh and third baseman Savannah Stenlund were also First-Team selections by the state's coaches.
Rapid River went 18-15 this season, winning a district championship before losing to Rogers City in the regional championship game.
Also getting softball honors: Marquette's Courtney LaFreniere was honorable mention in Division One, and Superior Central's Molly Swajanen was honorable mention in D-4.
