The Escanaba High School softball team faced stiff competition this weekend at the Poynette (Wis.) Jamboree. There were 50 teams there, the largest softball tournament in Wisconsin. The Eskymos beat DeForest, Wis., 10-3.
But the EHS girls lost to top-ranked Westosha Central, 7-2, and then had their rally fall short against Rice Lake, Wis., 8-7. Escanaba played with just nine players as others were missing to attend a Band Trip to New York City.
