ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School girls softball team opened a busy weekend on Friday with a pair of wins over the Cheboygan Chiefs.
The Eskymos won the opener, 2-0, behind the pitching of Sam Connor. The Eskymos also won the second game, 10-3, with Kayla Van Portfliet in the pitching circle.
In the opener, the Eskymos scored their runs when Michelle LaFave singled home Anna Burch, and Jayme Frappier scored on a bases-loaded walk.
In the second game, the Eskymos fell behind in the top of the first inning, 2-0, but quickly tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Escanaba scored seven runs in the third inning to take control of the game. The Eskymos improved to 12-9 on the season.
The Eskymos will host the Escanaba Lions Challenge on Saturday.
