RAPID RIVER---The Rapid River Rockets swept a softball doubleheader from the Bark River-Harris Broncos on Monday, winning 10-0 and 14-3.
The Rockets got a perfect game from Erika Schwartz in the first game, and Erica Rucbick (pictured) hit two home runs in the nightcap.
Schwartz pitched all six innings of the opener, and went 1-2-3 in all six. She struck out nine batters. Offensively, Dominque Pavlat went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and three runs scored. Richelle Vandeville had a triple and two runs batted in.
In the second game, Schwartz was again the winning pitcher. Both of Rubick's home runs were three-run shots. Lindsay Knuth was 4-for-4 with four runs batted in, and Vandeville and Hannah Kanyuh each had three base hits.
Rapid River (15-4) has now won eight straight games. The Rockets host Manistique in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 4:00.
