GLADSTONE---The Manistique Emeralds had an easy match Monday night in Gladstone, beating the Braves, 3-0. The scores were 25-8, 25-4, 25-12.

"I think this was a great oppifrtunity to get everybody in and get them some experience, maybe at some different positions," Manistique Coach Amy Nixon said. "If we get into the post-season and need some people to fill in at some positions, they'll have some experience. I think it was a great team effort tonight. We really did a good job executing what we can do."

Gladstone Coach Averi Kanyuh says her team has to keep battling, even though her team has not won a match this season.

"I think they had some good service runs on us," Kanyuh said. "We struggled with our serve receive and our passes. We need to work on clearing our minds more, forgetting about the first set and focusing on to the next one after that. One point at a time."

Manistique has a tough match against Cheboygan on Tuesday, while the Braves also have a tough one against Marquette. The Gladstone Braves and Manistique Emeralds will face each other in the first round of the MHSAA district tournament in two weeks.
