ISHPEMING---The Gladstone High School boys cross country team won the Mid Peninsula Conference championship on Monday, edging Negaunee by one point, 36-37.
Gladstone's Drew Hughes won his eleventh straight race, crossing the finish line in 17 minutes, 40 seconds. That was a full 81 seconds ahead of Negaunee's James Dank.
The Miners easily won the girls' race over second place Gladstone, with the top three finishers, led by medalist Lola Korpi (21:04).
The Upper Peninsula Finals are set for Saturday in Marquette.
