Northern Michigan University continued Homecoming activities on Friday with the unveiling of a new statue in the heart of campus. NMU President Fritz Erickson helped to unveil the statue, which is located near Jamrich Hall. Gladstone High School senior Reece Castor has committed to attend school and play basketball at Northern Michigan University next fall. Castor is a three-year starter for the Braves, and was an All-U.P. selection last year. Castor made his announcement Wednesday on social media. With this racing season in the books Norway Speedway saw a boost in not only fan attendance but also car counts in three of the track’s five weekly divisions in 2018. In a report released Tuesday by Dickinson County Racing Association treasurer Tim Schultz, grandstand attendance soared 21 percent from 2017 at the third-mile, paved oval.
