Twenty-nine wrestlers from downstate Allendale High School are in Marquette learning a new style of the sport at the United States Olympic Training Site. WJMN Local Three Sports reports that the wrestlers are being taught the Greco-Roman style of wrestling which tests both the strength and mental toughness of the sport.

The Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association has chosen Gladstone Braves Manager Don Lauscher as the Division Three Regional Coach of the Year. In Minnesota last night, the Class 2A baseball state quarterfinals were played in St. Cloud as Providence Academy faced Minnehaha Academy. The Providence team is coached by Escanaba native Kevin Tapani, who graduated from Escanaba High School in 1981 and went on to play for the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins. Tapani's Providence team lost a heartbreaker in eight innings, 2-1.
