SEASON OVER: Knights Sweep Bay College Again
The 2021 baseball season came to an end for the Bay College Norse on Saturday, with two more losses to Dakota County Technical College in Minnesota. DCTC won, 10-5 and 10-0. Grant Craft and Dalton Graham both drove in two runs in the opener for Bay. On Frida, DCTC won, 6-5 and 8-1. Bay led the opener 5-3 in bottom of 7th but gave up three runs and lost. Carson Shea had a 2-run single and Tanner Halvorson had 2 hits. In the 2nd game, eight different Norse players got hits but couldn’t string them together. Shea had 2 hits. Jack Bower pitched 5 2/3 innings and took the loss. Bay finished its season with a 4-33 record.
Norse Softball Team Picks Up 2 Tourney Victories
The Bay College Norse softball team won two NJCAA Region 13 playoff games in Minnesota on Tuesday, beating Gogebic Community College, 13-4, and then pulling out a dramatic 6-5 win over Dakota County Technical College. Click the above headline for details.

  • Escanaba's Frazer, WIC's Nelson Named MVPs
    Escanaba's Brandon Frazer was named the MVP for the East All-Stars as they defeated the West, 103-97, in the Upper Peninsula boys basketball All-Star game in St. Ignace on Saturday. Frazer had 17 points. Logan DePew of Newberry was high scorer with 21 points. Three Bark River-Harris seniors reached double figures: Trenton Wood-Keshick (19 points), Joey Stein (16 pts) and Nick Javurek (13 pts). West Iron County's Justin Nelson was the West MVP with 40 points and 18 rebounds. He hit five triples. Marquette's Ty Lotterman added 19 points.
  • Crow Scores 21 As East All-Stars Win, 87-80
    Gladstone's Megan Crow scored 21 points as the East All-Stars beat the West 87-80 in the Upper Peninsula girls basketball All-Star game Saturday in St. Ignace. Crow was named the East MVP. Sault Ste. Marie's Jordyn Haller talleid eleven points. Menominee's Emma Anderson led the West All-Stars with 35 points in a losing effort. She knocked down seven triples.
  • Marquette's Johnson To Play Baseball At Finlandia

    Erik Johnson of Marquette has committed to play for the Finlandia University baseball team.  He is planning on majoring in Sports Management. Finlandia head coach Evan Brandt says: “I’m extremely excited to add Erik to our program. He is a great athlete with the ability to play anywhere on the field.  Erik will profile as an infielder for us as he has had a great summer for the Blues at third base as well as for his high school program. His left-handed bat will impact our lineup as he flashes power with a great understanding of how to get on base at a high level.”
