Four Games Open Hermansville Gold Medal Classic
HERMANSVILLE---The Gold Medal Classic Independent Basketball Tournament began Friday night at the Hermansville Community Center. It is the 79th year for the event, which makes it the longest independent basketball tournament in the country. Why do people keep coming back to this small Menominee County town? He says that the area has become a basketball hotbed in the wake of the North Central Jets winning three straight high school Class D state championships. Four games were held Friday night and ten more games are scheduled on Saturday. DAGGETT KAKUKS 53, NORWAY KNIGHT OWLS 37---In the Class D opener on Friday, Daggett led the entire way to post the victory. Adam Nolde led the winners with 19 points. Bryce Bilski scored 12 for the Knight Owls. HERMANSVILLE WHITENS DRY KILN 62, HERMANSVILLE WILDWOOD 55---In this Class EE opener on Friday, Jay Stein scored 18 points for Dry Kiln in the victory. Kyle Bellefueil had17 in a losing effort for Wildwood. STEPHENSON WANGERIN LOGGING 77, HERMANSVILLE ROCHON CONTRACTING 73---In this Class E opener on Friday, Travis Champlain scored 16 for the winners. Dan Parent had 22 points in a losing effort for Rochon Contracting. WALLACE JIM'S PLUMBING 78, CARNEY DURAN 67---In this Class D opener Friday night, Jacon Heres led Jim's with 22 points.
