Cubs Held To Two Hits In 10-0 Loss To Manitowoc
MARINETTE, Wis.---The Escanaba Cubs American Legion Baseball team lost its final game of the Marinette Firecracker Tournament on Sunday, falling to Manitowoc (Wis.), 10-0, in five innings. The Cubs finished the tournament with an 0-4 record. Escanaba starting pitcher Braeden Olsen was hit hard right from the beginning as Manitowoc scored nine runs in the first inning. A couple of defensive errors didn't help Olsen, either, as the Wisconsin team sent 13 batters to the plate. Olsen went 2 1/3 innings on the mound, and was charged with ten runs on seven hits and four walks. Drew Serrer relieved, and retired all five batters he faced. Tanner Hadler pitched all five innings for Manitowoc, which went 2-2 in the tournament. Escanaba hosts Gladstone Wednesday night at Al Ness Field. Game time is 8:00. It will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (NewsTalk 600), and at www.rrnsports.com. Click the thumbnails in the ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS box above to see photos and videos taken by Sheila Olsen. |
