ALL-STATE YOOPERS: D3, D4 Teams Announced

DETROIT---The Associated Press on Tuesday announced its All-State high school boys basketball teams.

In Division Three, the Iron Mountain Moutaineers’ 1-2 punch of Foster Wonders and Marcus Johnson were First Team selections. Wonders, a junior, averaged 27 points and eight rebounds per game for the Mountaineers. Johnson, a senior who’s the son of Iron Mountain Coach Bucky Johnson, averaged better than 22 points per game.

Negaunee’s Jason Waterman was named a D-3 Honorable Mention selection.

In Division Four, Pickford senior Nick Edington was a first-team selection.

He is a Northern Michigan University football recruit, who averaged 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds per game this year for the Panthers.

Also on the first team was Dollar Bay senior Ashton Janke.

He averaged 25 points and pulled down nearly 12 rebounds a game for the Blue Bolts. Carney-Nadeau’s Brett LaFord was a second-team All-State selection.

All-State Honorable Mention selections included Jaden Borseth (Ewen-Trout Creek), Zach Englund (Mid Peninsula), Luke Gorzinski (North Central), Noah Gorzinski (North Central), Davin Hill (Dollar Bay), Zach Gross (Brimley), and Tyler Sundling (Rapid River).
