The NMU hockey team dropped game one of the weekend series against the best team in the country, losing 4-0 to the Michigan State Spartans, Friday night in Marquette. The Wildcats (0-7-0, 0-0-0 CCHA) had its chances to score, including six power play attempts and a shot off the post, but were unsuccessful in its man-advantage opportunities, marking the first time the 'Cats have been shut out this season.

The Bay College Norse volleyball team stepped out of conference play Monday night to face Upper Peninsula rival Gogebic Community College. The Northern Michigan University football team won its first game since the 2022 campaign on Saturday, beating the Roosevelt Lakers, 42-21, in suburban Chicago. The Michigan Tech football team turned the ball over five times in the first half as No. 1 Ferris State winning its 21st consecutive game, in a 38-10 decision at Kearly Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Ferris State saw their three-game shutout streak come to an end as Michigan Tech produced a 32-yard field goal from sophomore kicker Avery Kucharski, and Tech quarterback Elliott Larner recorded his second career touchdown.
The Northern Michigan volleyball team ended the Midwest Region Crossover in dominant fashion, earning a sweep over the Ashland Eagles 25-19, 25-21, and 25-13, with the match only lasting just over an hour in total time. The Northern Michigan hockey team held a 1-0 lead halfway through the third period on Friday night at the Berry Events Center, but a late goal and another in overtime from the Colorado College Tigers gave them the 2-1 edge over the Wildcats. A week full of nostalgia and celebration wrapped up Saturday night at Northern Michigan University as the 1975 national championship football team was honored. The highlight was the retirement of Steve Mariucci's jersey, the Iron Mountain native who was the quarterback of that team and went on to play and coach in the NFL. The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team took down the reigning GLIAC Champions and 2024 NCAA Elite Eight team 1-0 Friday afternoon in Marquette. The Wildcats (4-2-3, 3-2-0 GLIAC) took a full three points off of the No. 17 Cardinals (5-1-3, 4-1-0 GLIAC), something no team this season has yet been able to do. The Central Collegiate Hockey Association has announced its Players of the Week on Monday and NMU's William Gramme earned the Goaltender of the Week award. Gramme, earning his first CCHA Goaltender of the Week honor, posted a .947 save percentage over the weekend, stopping 107-of-113 shots for the Wildcats in a season-opening series at No. 15 Massachusetts. In a marathon contest lasting more than three and a half hours, the Northern Michigan football team fell 47-25 to the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at Wickes Stadium. Though the Wildcats outscored SVSU 22-14 in the second half, a 26-point second quarter from the home team proved too much to overcome. NMU found the end zone three times, but it was not enough.

Another Upper Peninsula high school football team has forfeited a game because of a lack of healthy boys to field a team. The Westwood Patriots announced on Wednesday that it will not be able to play the Negaunee Miners this Friday night. The game was going to be Negaunee's homecoming game.
Bay Cross Country Team travelled to the MCCAA Northern Conference Meet hosted by North Central Michigan College. Bay's Women's Team put two runners in the All-Conference as well as All-Freshman Team while the Men's Team had three runners qualify for All-Conference and one runner as All-Freshman.
It was quite the home opener for the Northern Michigan volleyball team on Friday night, as the Wildcats (2-9, 1-2) rallied to hand the Parkside Rangers (9-1, 2-1) their first loss of the season, 26-24, 17-25, 13-25, 25-21, 15-7.
The Bay College Norse volleyball team found itself in a close battle all night long as they pulled off a 3-2 victory over the Delta College Pioneers Monday night. The Norse took the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 28-26 before dropping the next two (26-28 and 20-25). They were able to come through in the end with a 15-9 win in the final set.
