Everyone Scores As Gladstone Girls Top Manistique

GLADSTONE----Lexi Hongisto scored 21 points to lead the Gladstone Braves to a 72-25 win over the Manistique Emeralds Friday night in Gladstone. All ten Braves players scored at least two points as the Braves imposed the 40-point mercy rule in the victory.

Callie Jensen scored eleven points and Anna Wulf added nine for the Braves, who improved to 6-3 on the season. Manistique's record fell to 2-7.

Lexi Hongisto scored 21 points Friday.
The first quarter was rough for both teams, as neither made a basket in the first four minutes.

Sam Williams gave Manistique its only lead of the game (3-2), but the Braves scored the next 13 points to take a 15-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Of those 13 points, Hongisto scored nine. And then in the second quarter, seven different Gladstone players scored baskets as the Braves built a 36-7 lead at halftime.

Manistique scored eleven points in a competitive third quarter, staying within 53-18 entering the fourth quarter.

But the Emeralds managed only seven points in the fourth quarter, all of them by Williams. She led Manistique in scoring with eleven points.

Gladstone also won the junior varsity game, 71-20.
