Gladstone, Esky Girls Compete In Softball Tourneys

The Gladstone Braves and Escanaba Eskymos competed in softball tournaments away from home on Saturday. The Braves won two games in Cadillac to win their second tournament in as many weeks, while Escanaba finished 2-1 and took third place in Pulaski, Wis.

Gladstone beat Mesick, 8-0, and then topped Cheboygan, 9-0, to win the invitational. The Braves are now 11-8-2 and have won nine of their last eleven games after a 2-6-2 start.

Escanaba, meanwhile, won two out of three games in Pulaski on Saturday. The Eskymos opened with a 5-2 win over Mosinee, the top-ranked team in Wisconsin Division Two. The next game saw the Eskymos lose to Hortonville, 2-0. That team is ranked in the top ten in Wisconsin's Division One. Escanaba finished play with a 2-0 win over Pulaski.

The Escanaba girls are now 9-4-0 on the season.
