Five Delta County graduating high school softball players played their final high school game on Tuesday in the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association's All-Star games at Davenport University.
In the Division Two game, Escanaba's Katey Lamb and McKenzie Engebretson played on the infield for their Eskymo coach, Andy Fields, while pitcher Grayson LaMarche did not play due to elbow soreness. In Division Three, Gladstone's Tia Schone pitched and teammate Lauren Sundquist caught, making for one final time where the two hooked up as a team's battery.
Lamb had a single and a triple and played four innings in the field, both at third base and shortstop. Engebretson did not get a hit at the plate, but she did her four innings in the field, playing at first base and in right field. LaMarche was given her plaque as the Michigan Division Two pitcher of the year, alongside her rival, Gaylord's Aubrey Jones, who was named D-2 Position Player of the Year.
All five Delta County girls got their MHSSCA First Team All-State awards during on-field ceremonies during the games.
In Division Three, Sundquist had two base hits, reached on an error, and stole a base. Schone pitched two flawless innings in the circle, and was robbed of a base hit on a diving catch in left-center field.
